Who we are
Fake Friend Digital was founded by Liberty Yanaga, a seasoned creator industry veteran having been a content producer and brand strategist for 5 years and a member of the industry for far longer than that. Liberty has worked with some of the biggest digital creator talent with the Trash Taste Podcast and the Safety Third podcast as well as with companies like Netflix, NZXT and Real Good Touring.
Alongside her is her sister, Patience, who functions as administrative assistant and CFO handling all the day to say business needs. She brings a solid business foundational education and international business program experience from Temple University Japan.
Together we’re deeply passionate about geek, gaming and other niche internet communities, being ages that sit on the cusp of two digitally native generations. We are also deeply passionate about business as much as we are creativity; we’re coming to a new age in the new media landscape where the industry will need to mature rapidly if we’re all to stay afloat, we fully intend on being on the cutting edge and moreover this excites us.
why it works
We hold a deep passion for working with authentic and passionate voices in the creator space as well as for niche genres across gaming, animation, geek and tech. By focusing on niche and micro-creators we’re helping to build the next generation of digital native content creators and brands. Fake Friend aims to help support these creators by bringing them direct access to financial backing but also provides them with their first industry support: it can be hard to figure out a business, marketing, packaging and analytics if you’ve never seen them before, we’ve seen it all.
By focusing on deeply passionate and smaller projects what we find is that it leads to much more engaged communities and much deeper brand staying power. Additionally, we hope to help creators make meaningful and informative content leaving a lasting impression not just on brands but the world at large.
